reading and math resources to support your student at home
READING RESOURCES
MATH RESOURCES
- Pick a consistent time and spot to read at home
- If your student often forgets to fill out their reading log, remind them to take it out BEFORE they begin reading (habit building)
- The reading log is turned in one day a week, and each student should know their day to turn it in (accountability)
- RAZ Kids is a free website/app where students can read, listen to, and take quizzes on leveled texts
- https://www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login
- Teacher code= kmarquez5
- It’s important to read books near your reading level because comprehension won’t improve if books are too hard, and readers aren’t challenged if books are too easy.
- Check out the Scholastic links below, for book recommendations.
- This book list is broken down into a variety of topics like…
- Books with brave characters
- Books parents loved as kids

MATH RESOURCES
- Take 5 minutes to review facts. This can be done through flashcards, apps on the tablet, verbally reviewing as you drive from one event to the next, or playing a game.
- Use the Eureka (green) math book. Students can work on any problems that weren’t assigned in class. We have completed the first half of Module 2. It is recommended to do word problems. *Please do not work ahead in the Eureka book*
